Troop 1 Attend BYU football game

So, Matt E. decided to fly up and take Myles to a BYU football game.  At 1-6, a major disappointing year for the team, we were able to get cheap tickets for the whole bunch.  Thanks Matt.  To make it even more fun we decided to have a tailgate party and all the girls came down to join in the fun.  It was a beautiful fall day, sunny and warm.
Great family and a win for BYU, now 2-7.  Broke loosing streak!!!

Fun times.

And the girls joined us for lunch as well.  Wow, that was fun.

Jordan and the Gardening merit badge

Jordan went out to the garden to do some weeding and pick some of his crops.  Here is his corn that he grew from seed 6 months ago.  No close polinator but it did produce an interesting piece of corn.  Also, the yellow pepper is great and he has many.   His beans will need to be picked this week also.  He weeded as well and put the green weeds in the compost bin.  He's learning a new hobby.

sOUTing in the Uinta Mountains with 4 Great Scouters

Matt's been planning this hike for the last year and I've been preparing to go for months.  Although I was slowed down in my preparation with a little virus and subsequent mono, I recovered enough to make the trip.  What a great time we had hiking and seeing the amazing Uinta Mountains, singing around the campfire, cooking and eating together and just having a great time being in the great Outdoors.   42 miles and a great loop, half of it in new territory for me.  I'm looking forward to the next trip with these guys!

Scouting with Myles in Gilbert

Well, Myles spent a couple weeks in South Weber/Lehi and it seems we never had time to have some fun doing Bear Electives. With only a morning to have some fun, we did some Native American (Indian) crafts. A Talking Stick and a Dream Catcher! These were fun things to make and I had the right supplies from my days as a Cub Master to help him out.

Talking Stick - used by a Native Tribe to focus on listening and talking.  The person holding the stick talked while those who didn't listened.

Dream Catcher - used by Native Tribes to catch bad dreams in the spider web as well as good dreams that dropped down through the 3 feathers to the sleeper

Zack has been asked to be on staff for Timberline in his council.

That will be a fun experience for him!

Went down to Jordan's last pinewood derby.  His car was sleek and really fast looking.  However, the wheels were put on so good that all 4 wheels touched the ground and therefore, the car wasn't as fast as some of the others.  The track person said he does 120 races a year and the track cost him $1500.

Two wards - 29 cars
